Environmental Policy Statement

Betan Limited recognises that in our operations we inevitably impact on the environment and we are therefore committed to ensure a clean, healthy environment.

We will provide our customers with a safe, reliable and responsive service in an environmentally sensitive and responsible manner.

We believe that a sound environmental policy contributes to our competitive strength and benefits our stakeholders, including customers and employees by protecting the environment and contributing to the overall well-being and economic health of the communities we serve.

We will:

• Ensure activities are carried out in compliance with relevant environmental legislation and non legal compliance obligations.
• Consider environmental factors and the full acquisition, use and disposal costs when making planning, purchase and disposal decisions.
• Work continuously to improve the effectiveness of our environmental management.
• Provide appropriate environmental training and educate employees to be environmentally responsible, and ultimately contribute to Betan’s environmental agenda.
• Seek to prevent pollution and reduce the amount of waste we produce.
• Work with suppliers who themselves have sound environmental policies.
• Reduce vehicle and other harmful emissions where possible.
• Use energy efficiently throughout our operations, and support the efficient use of gas and electricity by our customers and suppliers.
• Minimise the use of materials that are harmful to the environment and recycle wherever possible.

In order to ensure the achievement of the above commitments, the company has implemented an environmental management system aligned with recognised best practice for continual improvement and sustainable performance.

This demonstrates our commitment to ongoing improvement of environmental performance, which we aim to achieve through clear objectives and targets that will be reviewed regularly—at least annually—and communicated throughout the company to all employees and contractors working on behalf of the organisation.

This policy is available to the public on request and will be reviewed periodically to ensure its continuing suitability.
